HIIT Attack is a total, full body, heart pumping, aerobic and strength conditioning workout. This interval-based class combines full-body strength training and bursts of high-intensity cardio with short rest periods. Studies have shown that 15 minutes of high-intensity interval training burns more calories than an hour of jogging on the treadmill. Imagine what one of our 45-minute classes could do! The ‘afterburn’ happens during high-intensity training because of how it can get the heart pumping and create an ‘oxygen debt’ aka EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). The rest periods aid the adaption and benefits of this oxygen debt which can last for up to 36 hours after your class! This means you will be burning extra calories during rest for a day-and-a-half following your HIIT session
Because of this effect you aren’t just increasing your caloric expenditure, this oxygen debt actually increases fat burning by twice as much as calories burnt from regular exercise. The more intense the class, the greater the effects will be.
Even though you become a calorie burning machine you will not eat into your precious muscle so you can lose weight but keep your shape, staying lean and toned. If simply getting great results doesn’t hold your interest, the constant change of pace, constant challenges and variety will surely keep boredom at bay.
People say ‘Extreme training, builds extreme results’. It can be hard for most people to push themselves to the point where they lose their breath and feel their heart pounding out their chest and maintain that level for any length of time. HIIT session can produce health benefits similar to twice as much moderate-intensity exercise. Even though each bout of exercise is brief you will still build incredible endurance for other activities. The “Journal of Physiology,” posted a study where people participated in HIIT for eight weeks and the results showed that they had doubled the length of time they could ride a bicycle while keeping the same pace.
