Injury Clinic FAQs

What qualifications does Richard have?

Richard holds Level 4 Sports Therapy, Advanced Spinal Manipulation, Advanced Medical Acupuncture, Osteopathic Articulation, Clinical Compressive Flossing and Neurotraining qualifications, alongside years of hands-on treatment experience at the clinic.

Is sports therapy the same as physiotherapy?

No. Richard is a sports therapist, not a physiotherapist. Sports therapy focuses on muscle and joint problems and getting you back to training. If your issue needs a different specialist, Richard will tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.

Is treatment covered on my healthcare plan?

Some health cash plans and insurance policies cover sports therapy, but cover varies by provider and policy, so check with them before booking.

What kind of treatment will I have?

Richard has a range of options at his disposal, including sports massage, spinal manipulation, medical acupuncture, electroacupuncture and osteopathic joint articulation. The approach is agreed with you based on your needs, your preferences and what is likely to be most effective.

What happens in a session?

We discuss your goal, perform any relevant checks, then provide hands-on treatment. At the end we explain aftercare so you know what to do next.

Will my treatment be painful?

Treatment does not need to be painful to work. Some techniques can feel intense, especially on sore areas, but we work within your tolerance and use the minimum pressure required.

Are there any side effects?

There can be mild bruising, soreness or stiffness. Symptoms may occasionally feel worse before they improve. These effects usually settle within a day or two.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people visit occasionally while others prefer a short block. Many feel better after one or two sessions but everyone responds differently.

How long is the appointment?

Each appointment lasts 30 minutes. All services £39.

What should I wear?

Sportswear or any comfortable, unrestricted clothing is ideal. You may be asked to remove some items. Underwear is always kept on and towels are used when needed.

Can I bring someone with me?

Under 18s must bring a chaperone. Otherwise you are welcome to bring someone if you would like them to accompany you.

What is your cancellation policy?

Life happens and sessions may need to be cancelled or rescheduled. Manage your booking from the customer panel link in your confirmation, email us or call the gym. Please give at least 12 hours notice. Sessions cancelled after this time and no-shows will be charged. You can end a session early but the full time will be charged.
